Being Essential During the Coronavirus Pandemic

The following statement is directly from Coronavirus.gov, which is the White House and the Center for Disease Control collaboration:

If you work in a critical infrastructure industry, as defined by the Department of Homeland Security, such as healthcare services and pharmaceutical and food supply, you have a special responsibility to maintain your normal work schedule.

Essential businesses can stay open. The reason we fall under this "category" is because we supply the following types of customers:

  • Municipal and state water plants for water softening

  • Food companies, feed companies, and ag companies

  • Hospitals and prisons that need salt for water softening

Obviously, safety is paramount in everything that we do. Here are the steps we are taking to ensure customer and employee safety:

We have spent the past few weeks learning about the Coronavirus and it’s community impact. We are monitoring both the WHO and the CDC on all the steps we can take to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

We are following all CDC guidelines in our office and plant. These include social distancing, hand washing/sanitizing, covering nose and mouth if having to cough or sneeze, avoiding touching face, etc...

All of our truck drivers are not being required to sign delivery tickets to limit interaction with our dispatchers.

Hand sanitizer is available in our office and plant. And anyone feeling sick is not permitted to come to work.

Effective immediately, and until further notice, our customers will encounter these changes to our ordering and invoicing process:

  • Please do not fax orders, email orders to orders@gunthersalt.com

  • Phone orders accepted, but there may be a delay in receiving them

  • Customers will receive invoices via email rather than via standard mail

We're making deliveries today and plan to keep on doing so. Staffing may need to be adjusted as we will continue to monitor the situation.

Any questions or concerns can be addressed by replying to this email or by calling us at 314-241-7075 during our office hours.

Finally, we intend to keep you informed as best we can and we really do appreciate all of the support during the pandemic.

Sincerely, all of us at
Gunther Salt Company
